E.A.R., Inc's. New HS-EAR1 Adjustable Hearing Screener and Fit Check
has been specifically designed to quickly screen both hearing acuity and the proper insertion and fit of hearing protection. Current assessment from industrial, audiological, medical and industrial markets indicates that many hearing threshold shifts occur as a result of improper fit or use of hearing protection. As a result, E.A.R., Inc. has designed its new screener to be MULTI-FUNCTIONAL. This unique screener features 4 adjustable pulse tone frequencies (500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz and 4000 Hz) and 5 adjustable intensity levels (40 dB, 50 dB, 60 dB, 70 dB and 80 dB).
How to Use
In a quiet room, test each ear and establish threshold for hearing acuity. When checking for proper insertion and attenuation of hearing protection, repeat the test with the hearing protection installed. Note the increase in intensity to confirm that the selected hearing protection is adequate. Record the results on a chart similar
to the one shown, right. Testing should take no longer than 5-7 minutes. This screener is easy to use and includes a wrist lanyard to minimize the risk of dropping. Easy to use instructions in 13 languages are included. The instrument is CE Certified for international use.
Audiological/Medical/Schools. Used to quickly screen hearing acuity. Many health care providers give these units to physicians or selected patients who can screen their friends or family thus resulting in referrals. This procedure has produced excellent results.
Industrial. Used to quickly assess both hearing acuity and proper fit of selected hearing protection. No need to hook up wires or headphones. Testing should take no longer than 5-7 minutes.
Recreational/Trade Shows/Seminars. Used to demonstrate hearing acuity of attendees wanting to learn more about hearing and hearing loss. This procedure has been successful when used by hearing health care professionals conducting hearing seminars.
Veterinary Medicine. Used to screen pet animals as well as hunting dogs, and horses, etc.
Personal. For those who want to keep track of their own hearing acuity as well as family and friends.
