This Bone Conduction Boom-Mic Headset is designed with two temple transducers that are worn in front of the ear. It also features an adjustable supporting fabric headband for easy and long-term wearing under ballistic helmets and hard-hats, as well as over normal baseball caps.
Bone conduction technology has been used in many industries for the purpose of using the user's bones to resonate sound. It's much like using a tuning fork and holding against your forehead. You hear the sound within your ears via the vibrations being produced through your skull. Using the side-mounted temple transducers, we achieve common bone conduction acoustics that can be heard in high-noise environments. This is especially true when you "occluded" the ear with an earplug or ear muff hearing protector. We have suggested many times to use one of our electronic earplug systems for hearing enhancement with protection. This also "occludes" the ear for better understanding of the bone conduction communications, but will not eliminate the user from hearing important, and sometimes, life saving sounds within their environment.
