Within our custom electronic units, we offer three distinct styles. Please review for further information.
The Full-Shell style is usually the most preferred for the full contour fit within the ear cavity. It will also have the most benefits top the end user as it uses a larger battery and has a larger volume control dial on the faceplate that is easier to manipulate with gloves on, or individuals who have fatter fingers.

Battery Life - Average 390-479hrs
Insertion - Fits the entire interior of the ear bowl and locks into place within the helix cavity (top of ear).
Volume Control - Larger dial for easier manipulation with fatter fingers or while wearing gloves.

The Half-Shell style fills the lower portion of the ear bowl. It is less visible to the outside environment. It uses a smaller battery than the Full-Shell style but is still a nice option for those wanting a balance between the Full-Shell and Completely-in-the-Canal style units.

Battery Life - Average 250-310hrs
Insertion - Uses the ear canal structures and anti-tragus to lock into place.
Volume Control - Usually smaller than the Full Shell due to the size of the ear, and positioning of the battery door compartment.

The CIC style is the smallest and least visible unit in the ear. Most users will pick this unit for its low profile characteristics or desired look in the ear. It uses the smallest hearing aid battery available and will be replaced more often then the Half-Shell or Full-Shell styles.

Battery Life - Average 150-170hrs
Insertion - Uses only the ear canal structures to lock into place.
Volume Control - Usually the same size as the Half Shell although with certain ear shapes this could be substituted with a push button component.

NOTE: Battery life will depend on the battery maker, wax impaction, electronic earplug style and circuit being used. These are only estimates given from the trials we've done in the lab. Each unit is sent with their appropriate Zinc-air battery size that can also be found in your local pharmacy or hearing aid battery retailer near you. Zinc-air batteries run on "air" and will continue to slowly drain once the pull tab is removed exposing the air duct ports. Please keep this in mind if you are having troubles with your units maintaining a good battery life… as you might wish to purchase rechargeable batteries in the future.
